The Concept
Wanted a bucket with 360° continuous rotation, without the hefty price tag of a tilting-rotating quick-coupler? The DigMax 360° Slipmax (©) offers a very affordable solution.
After consulting with many contractors, it was evident there was a market for a 360° continuous rotation wide cleaning bucket, for finishing / grading / contouring work, and working in tight working environments, that could attach to standard quick couplers.
The DigMax 360° Slipmax continuous rotation bucket was developed to meet this niche, at an affordable price point - pricing is similar to tilting buckets .
Feedback has been awesome. Contractors feedback is these "change the way you operate". Typically it will take a week or so to get used to the ability of full rotation.
"The more we use it, we realise we can do so much more with it. We find we track/move the machine less, and as we can do more with the bucket, we use it in more applications in varying ways - and in tight jobs these are magic".
Any standard quick coupler can pick it up, and the hydraulic requirements are very simple - just connect to a standard two-way flow hydraulic circuit, such as used with a tilt bucket, and you're good to go. Simple as that.
The DigMax 360° Slipmax bucket achieves many angles on a standard quick coupler, and when working with a tilting quick-coupler the versatility is further enhanced.
The bucket has a relatively low profile, minimising the height from the bucket floor to the bucket pins. This low profile was achieved by creating the 'scoop' shape - the long floor of the bucket. The long floor provides a larger opening, providing capacity, and the scoop shape allows the cutting edge of the bucket to reach into tight spots, such as cleaning out under service lines. The larger opening also allows material to flow freely into and out of the bucket, reducing packing and sticking of material. The scoop profile also assists with penetration.
The chamfered back corners allow the bucket to be rotated while working against a wall, and the back corners will not hit the wall during the rotation.
These chamfers also eliminate 90 degree corners in the back of the bucket, eliminating 'packing' of material in these areas, greatly reducing sticking.
The chamfers also increase the strength of the rear of the bucket floor, as the rear width of the bucket floor is reduced, and from an engineering perspective the circular shape created is stronger than a square shape. A bolt on cutting edge is also standard fitment, further increasing strength of the bucket floor.
The rotate ring is custom built to meet the loading and rotate speed. The rotate is driven by a simple and robust worm drive. Worm drive provides high torque, and high hold force, and also tolerates movement between the worm gear and the slew gear. And should any damage occur to the worm drive-motor, replacement is very low cost, circa NZD $480+GST for the motor, available off the shelf. Bolt it on, simple as that.
The result is a rotate bucket that is robust, simple, uncomplicated. Critical design elements in the world of earthmoving attachments.
And should you wear the bucket out to point of requiring replacement, simply unbolt it from the rotate ring, and bolt your new bucket on.
