LONG REACH FRONTS

DigMax factory engineers have designed and built long reach assemblies for as small as 5 ton, and as large as 260 and 350 ton excavators, with additional counterweight when required. DigMax can custom build to meet carrier machine, reach & depth requirements.

Design & Build - Cat 313FL

JRB Ag Services Ltd from the Waikato wanted a heavy duty longreach assembly for increased lifting capacity and digging forces. We reduced the overall length to accommodate for the extra weight of the heavy duty build, and the larger 12 ton class bucket ram. Two sets of auxiliary lines were fitted. Custom built attachments were also supplied - GP Bucket, Profile Ripper, V-Bucket, Trench Bucket.

Hitachi ZX360LC

Supplied for Pro Floors cleanfill operation in South Auckland. Higher grade steel and increased internal baffles were used for handling the increased load forces.

Volvo EC380DL

Designed to meet requirement of extraction river metal and reach requirement of 18 metres. Bolt on counterweight of 2000kg enabling a larger 1.2m3 digging bucket. South Island, NZ.

Design, Build, Commission Project - 50 Ton Long Reach, Aitutaki, Cook Islands

DigMax Equipment were approached to design and build a specialist Long Reach Front suit Doosan DX480LC, for deepening the wharf and marina at Aitutaki, Cook Islands. The project required the long reach to operate a milling head and ripper (also supplied by DigMax) for removing coral heads of varying hardness. In order to carry the weight and cope with the high load forces, the long reach was built from higher grade and thicker steel, and additional internal baffels for increased strength. The long reach was shortened to 18 metres length, to offset the heavier build and the additional weight of the milling head. The standard 30 ton class bucket ram & linkage was upsized to 35 ton class, to provide increased crowd forces. DigMax Equipment Limited managed the commissioning. The long reach and milling head were prefitted and tested in Auckland prior to shipment to Aitutaki, utilising the skills of AB Equipment, and 82c Hydraulics. The DX480LC was disassembled, to meet maximum lifting weights of 20,000kg at Aitutaki. Commissioning on site Aitutaki was undertaken by DigMax Equipment Limited, Muriwai Mechanical Limited, and the local project team. Specialist tooling was also shipped in advance. During the five days on site, the DX480LC was assembled, the longreach & attachments fitted and tested. The long reach was then removed, and the standard boom & arm fitted. This was a very successful project, completed in a remote location with limited resources readily available.
