Uncomplicated.
Tired of the cost of downtime and expense of repairs and maintenance of your existing tilt-hitch? Tired of having to be delicate with your rotary motor tilt-hitch? Tired of annoying rams sticking out the side? Frustrated with complicated secondary safety lock functions of the coupler?
Meet the only tilt-hitch in the world that utilises the globally patented Torlite actuator technology, being the symmetrical curved rams, that overcome the inherent complexities & issues of straight ram and helical/motor driven actuators. Already proven in this application for over 3 years, 12 units were produced in 2017 and sold into Australia, but production was put on hold due to prohibitive manufacturing costs. Advances in manufacturing technology now enable the TR Tilt-Hitch to be produced at a truly affordable price point.
- 100 degree tilt range; 50 degrees each way. Do you really need any more?
- Fast, simple, low cost installation - plug and play capability with integrated pressure control and check valves.
- Constant torque, rock-solid hold force, minimal moving parts resulting in less wear points, and lightweight reducing fuel consumption, and wear.
- Fully serviceable on the machine, with online tutorials for ram and seal replacement. Click the button below to view the tutorial.
- Quick coupler base allows a one-step connect and disconnection of attachments
Available in the 12-15 ton excavator class. Soon to be released in the 5-6 ton, and 20-24 ton range.
10 YEARS IN DEVELOPMENT
The TR Tilt-Hitch was originally developed by a separate division of Calibre Equipment (formally JB Attachments). Designed by New Zealand engineers, the TR Tilt-Hitch's inception was to overcome the inherant complexities and associated wear & maintenance issues of straight ram and helical / motor driven tilt-hitches . Designed for “simplicity”, the TR Tilt-Hitch is a robust, uncomplicated, operator friendly and easy-to-service tilt-hitch that dramatically reduces owning and operating costs.
CONSTANT TORQUE OUTPUTThe only tilting coupler that has constant torque at any tilt range ensuring maximum force throughout, and allowing for precise operator control.
SERVICEABLE ON THE MACHINEThe TR Tilt’s simple design has few moving parts, allowing it to be serviced whilst on the machine. No specialist tooling required. Change the rams, change the seals - do it on the machine, guided by an online tutorial. Minimum downtime, minimum cost. In one customers words "finally a tilt-hitch designed to be serviced".
QUICK COUPLER BASEQuick-Coupler base allows a one-step connect and disconnection process, establishing a fast and intuitive attach-detach mechanism for smooth operational use, minimum time changing between attachments.
INTEGRATED SMART VALVE
Fast, simple, low cost installation - plug and play capability with integrated pressure control and check valves. Provided the carrier machine has minimum flow and pressure requirements, just connect your hydraulic hoses to the tilting and quick-coupler circuits, and you're good to go.
• Substantially reduces fitting costs• Improves holding force
• Ensures the TR Tilt-Hitch and excavator is protected from hydraulic spikes• Immediately responds (starts and stops exactly where you want it)• Simplifies the hydraulic fitting process• Enables the speed to be set at the desired level for the operator and particular application
PROVEN PERFORMANCE
12 units sold in Australia 2017-2018, and still in full operation today. The production was then put on hold, while the manufacturing process was realigned to be more commercially viable. This has now been achieved, and production is once again underway, with the first unit delivered to Waiotahi Contractors Ltd in December 2020. We now have over a dozen units operating in NZ.

Customer Testimonials
Waiotahi Contractors Limited
Since their beginnings in 1957, Waiotahi Group from Whakatane have always recognized innovation in machinery and attachments as a key fundamental for success in earthmoving.
Over their 60 years experience in earthmoving, Waiotahi have understood that having the right attachments for excavators is crucial for increasing versatility and production, ultimately providing upmost value and efficiency to their clients
This includes decades of experience with tilting attachments, such as tilt-buckets and tilting quick-hitches.
When the TR Tilt-Hitch was presented, the management team with a combined experience in mechanical and earthmoving engineering exceeding 100 years, recognised the design principles of the Torlite tilting mechanism (symmetrically curved rams) overcame the inherent issues associated with straight-ram and motor driven tilt-hitches, namely the inevitable and ongoing costs of maintenance & repairs. The Torlite technology provides a truly robust tilting mechanism able to withstand the variable loading forces in earthmoving applications.
Well versed in the costs of downtime and repairs, a key beneft was the fact that the rams and seals can be replaced with no special tooling or technical expertise, on site, and without removing the TR Tilt-Hitch from the machine. Minimal downtime, minimal maintenance costs, crucial factors in a purchasing decision.
Other key features that appealed to Waiotahi Contractors:
Fitted to a Hitachi ZX135 in December 2020, two experienced operators have been very satisfied with the opertational performance to date.
A 3D GPS system has also been fitted, further enhancing performance and production. Keep scrolling to see videos of the TR-Tilt Hitch in action on Waiotahi's Hitachi ZX135.

Kidd Contracting Limited
Kidd Contracting Limited from South Auckland have been operating in very tough applications for decades - redevelopment of existing land & properties, requiring demolition of above ground structures, and reengineering works of groundwork and substructures.
This requires continual changing between attachments, and Kidd Contracting have been running with tilting quick-hitches since their inception.
With over a two decades of experience with both Heli-Tilt and straight ram tilt-hitch's, Kidd Contracting have learnt that the Heli-Tilts cannot stand up to the heavy load forces, and the straight ram tilts incumbent issues of continual cracking.
When the TR Tilt-Hitch was introduced, Kidd Contracting immediately recognised the key differences in the Torlite (curved ram) tilting mechanism, being robust, compact, and uncomplicated.
When their 14 ton class straight ram tilt-hitch literally pulled apart at under 2500 hours, the TR Tilt-Hitch was fitted on site and operational in under 3 hours.
The feedback has been all thumbs up - the compactness providing zero interference from protruding rams, and the constant torque & hold force providing full control at all times, along with ease and speed of changing attachments with the one step quick-coupler "You can't even see it on there".

Boler Earthmoving Contractors Limited
Stephen Boler has been around earthmoving machinery and equipment all his life.
With their latest upgrade to a new SH130LC-6 the decision was made to also equip it with a tilting quick-hitch.
Stephen was well aware of the incumbent issues with Heli-Tilts (rotary actuators) and straight ram tilts. Weight, keeping as high as possible digging forces, compactness, and robustness were key factors when evaulating which tilting hitch to go for.
Evaluating these key factors, Boler Earthmoving fitted the TR Tilt-Hitch, and are aboslutley stoked with the performance.
"The operator loves the compactness, smoothness, constant torque & hold force, and the ease & speed of the one-step process of the quick-coupler for changing between attachments".
Construct Civil Limited
When Construct Civil from West Auckland decided to add a tilting quick-hitch to their Sumitomo SH125, the decision was left to the plant maintenance team.
Evaluation of Heli-Tilts (rotatry actuators), straight rams tilts, and the TR Tilt-Hitch were undertaken.
The Torlite (curved rams) tilting mechanism was immediately recognised as being designed for earthmoving, as opposed to a tilting mechanism that has been transplanted or adapted to suit, with their incumbent issues.
Key benefits that appealed were the few moving parts, constant load force and direction on the coupler, being robust by design, compactness & weight.
In short, the TR Tilt-Hitch decided upon for its design features of being robust, compact, and uncomplicated.
